Welcome to the dreamy world of KindKeith, the emerging songwriting from Austin, Texas, who recently dropped two singles on our lap. Both ‘NO!’ and b-side ‘BRAZOS’ are an excellent introduction to an artist who draws upon lofi production, bedroom-pop, future soul and alternative RnB to piece together his uniquely sleepy sound. Out of the two, it’s a-side ‘NO!’ that just about pips it as our favourite. The winding synths, fruity backbeats and recordings of conversations is such a different way of presenting a narrative about longing. This track of blurry upbeat soul ends on a repeated lyric, “I’m feeling so lost”, which is certainly how many people feel right now. For KindKeith, it’s the separation from his girlfriend and his home city of Austin that has him pining for earlier days. - Hannah Thacker
